ARTICLE VII – GOVERNING AUTHORITY Section 2 – Executive Board

ARTICLE XII – LOCAL OFFICERS, STEWARDS, AND THEIR DUTIES Temporary Succession

ARTICLE XIV – NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF LOCAL OFFICERS Section 7 – Vacancies

A. Vacancies in the office of Local President shall be filled by the First Executive Vice President. B. Vacancies in the office of First Executive Vice President or Secretary-Treasurer shall be temporarily filled by appointment of the Local President. If more than one-half of the unexpired term remains, a special election shall be held within sixty (60) days in accordance with the CWA Constitution. If one-half or less of the unexpired term remains, the appointed officer shall serve until the next regular election cycle. Any appointment made by the governing body shall be submitted for membership approval within sixty (60) days, consistent with the CWA Constitution, Art. XIII §7(d). |
TRANSITION CLAUSE
The office of Second Executive Vice President shall be abolished effective at the next regular election cycle. If the office becomes vacant before then, it shall remain unfilled and considered eliminated. In the event the office of First Executive Vice President becomes vacant prior to the elimination of the Second Executive Vice President, the Second Executive Vice President shall automatically assume the office of First Executive Vice President for the remainder of the term.
Reference: CWA Constitution, Article XIII, Section 7(d) (Vacancies). For transparency, appointments by the governing body are subject to membership approval within sixty (60) days, or the office may be filled by election within sixty (60) days.
