FAQ: Dues, privacy, and next steps

How are dues set? What do they fund?

Membership dues are set in accordance with the CWA Constitution and Local bylaws, and they fund bargaining, grievance handling, legal representation, training, communications, and strike/defense activities that protect members. Your Local provides transparent financial reports to members.

Do I have to be a member to get contract benefits?

The contract sets minimum standards for all covered employees, but only members choose the bargaining agenda, vote on contracts, vote for union officers, and fully direct the priorities of the Local. Strong membership also strengthens our leverage at the table.

How do COJ (public‑sector) dues work?

Florida public‑sector law requires dues to be authorized via bank account (ACH), not payroll deduction. The COJ signup link above securely collects your membership and ACH authorization.

Is my information private?

Yes. Enrollment forms are hosted on official CWA or Local‑approved platforms. Your information is used solely for membership administration and representation.
